COACH LOU HOLTZ TO ADDRESS EUFMC 2011

One of the most celebrated and accomplished coaches in sports history, Lou Holtz will return to Williamsburg this year— here he served as the College of William & Mary’s football coach from 1969 to 1971— to address attendees at the Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference. Aptly called “the greatest motivator of our time,” Lou Holtz had a 26-year career of inspiring players and motivating them to be winners, most notably with the Notre Dame University “Fighting Irish” football team. At EUFMC, Holtz will use his experience and humor to help attendees learn to assess their strengths, work as a team and embrace the values that can help improve their organizations.

Technology on Display

EUFMC is noted for its exhibition of the latest utility equipment and services. In 2011, the EUFMC Equipment Demonstration will feature more than 60 displays where fleet managers can meet with over 270 representatives from more than 95 manufacturers and service providers.

Sharing Best Practices

Attend EUFMC’s highly popular fleet and supplier roundtables to address common challenges and share solutions. All EUFMC events also provide an unparalleled opportunity to network with fleet managers, manufacturers and service providers.

WHAT ATTENDEES ARE SAYING

“The time that we spend at the Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference is an investment in our people. I don’t know of any other conference where attendees from our company can learn as much and meet as many influential people, in both the utility industry and the supplier community, in such a short period of time. EUFMC is completely unique and something that each person who attends will find very valuable for years to come.”

Top 10 challenges facing fleets in 2011 – Columbus, OH

The City of Columbus, OH and the 100 Best Fleets in North America™ Present:

Implementing Best Business Practices: Solutions to the Ten Biggest Challenges Facing Fleet Managers in 2011

A survey by Government Fleet Magazine has identified them and we have assembled the top 100 Fleet managers in the MidWest to solve them! This is a once-only meeting you can’t afford to miss.
The discussions will be led by two #1 Fleet Managers in North America.

Sam Lamerato, Fleet Manager for the City of Troy, Michigan was named the most efficiently run fleet in 2010 by Government Fleet magazine. In 2009 he was named one of the top 10 leaders in America by American Public Works Association (the only fleet manager to ever receive that award from APWA). He was the Michigan Fleet manager of the year, also and runs his own fleet conference attended by over 300 fleet professionals. Sam will focus especially on in sourcing, having contributed over $500,000 to the general fund last year with no addition of staff or overtime. Troy has 60 ASE technicians applying for every open position. Find out how to create the culture of high-performance productivity from every employee.

Kelly Reagan, Fleet Administrator, City of Columbus, was the general manager for Ft. Wayne, IN when they were named the #1 fleet in 2006. He has a unique perspective, having worked for the largest fleet privization company in the world and being named one of the top five leaders in the company out of 88,000 employees.
Columbus is one of the only fleets to be rated in the top 20 in both the Government Green fleets contest and the 100 Best Fleets in North America. They earned their first Blue Seal of Excellence in just 6 months, the largest city in America to do so.
Other solutions to be discussed:
  • Benchmarking of green technologies to include all operating and ownership costs by Chris Schaffer of Fleet Answers; St Louis Park, MN
  • Benchmarking of remarketing of vehicles with a live on-line world wide auction by Joe Lane of Property Room; Seattle, WA
  • Elimination of costly and unproductive RFPs in the purchasing process by Greg Haglin of National Joint Powers Alliance; Staples, MN
