Fleet Matrix of Vehicle Type and Assignment by Department

Fleet Matrix of Vehicle Type and Assignment by Department

County of Santa Clara fleet management must constantly adjust service levels to County departments and balance demand for vehicles against the cost of keeping those vehicles in our fleet inventory. Our goal is to minimize cost; the departments want great service for a low price. At the same time the optimum, turn over for a vehicle depends on the use of the vehicle, and all the wear and maintenance costs associated balanced by the cost of disposing and replacement of the vehicle. To help us adjust expectations and service levels we are looking for benchmarks we can use to develop “right-sizing” expectations. The County has compiled a matrix of vehicle type and assignment by department.

I would like to make this matrix available to our community, and ask that other agencies complete a similar matrix for their agency based on this matrix adjusted for their business line, and the agencies their fleet supports.
