There are dozens of GPS/Telematics companies out there. You can get simple monitoring systems or full-blown multi-service devices (payroll logging, work order mgmt, directions, communications, etc.). Most providers offer two payment methods: (1) pay for equip up front and have a smaller monthly service charge or (2) free equip and pay larger monthly charge. For simple sytems your monthly costs should range from $19/month - $45/month depending on what services you get. Telogis, Network Fleet or any of the companies can expand on this more for you.

I'm answering on behalf of Telogis, our GPS/Telematics expert:

"There are many providers of Fleet Management systems of varying capability. Costs per unit can vary based on the type of solution you would like to implement. There are many variables that need to be understood before making a recommendation on a solution. HW can vary from a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars depending on the devices used. Monthly service can also vary significantly based on the complexity of the solution and integration.

To maximize potential return on investment, you should look at how providers have evolved with the industry over time and ensure they have been able to deliver solutions quickly that solve new problems and can grow as your fleet grows."
