Metrics for Prev. Maintenance & Fix-it-Right

Looking to obtain benchmark data in order to establish\verify our targets on the following metrics:

Fix-It-Right (%) = tasks repeated on a repair within past 60 days/total tasks minus 1.00:

Prevantativ Maint. Compliance (%) = # of PM's complteted/# of PM's due

For your "Fix-It_Right" metric, make sure you filter out any regular maintenance from it though since some fleets receive regular service shorter than 60 days. And looking at it, you are lumping together all repeated work over 60 days / all work. You wouldn't need the minus 1, as the repeated tasks/total tasks will return the % of work that was repeater work. For your compliance measure, make sure your query accounts for PM's being completed timely, and filters out PM's from a previous period that are just now being done on the current period. So just to be specific, it should be: # PM's being completed on-time / total # of pm's completed for a given period. Another metric you may want to look into if you don't have it yet, is scheduled vs. unscheduled work. You'll want to know if you guys are working on break-down maintenance or preventive maintenance. It's a way to grade the success of your current maintenance program.

Thanks! Pretty much do what you say in your response. Do you actually track these metrics now? and what kind of #'s are you seeing?

For our Scheduled vs. Unscheduled work, we are seeing that 70% of our time is spent on planned maintenance for bus maintenance. For preventive maintenance compliance, we've consistently been above 95% in our bus operations. As for the fix it right, it doesn't happen very frequently, so we just list the specific work-orders and note buses that are repeaters for certain work.
